Virginie Despentes, King Kong Theory

The opening of King Kong Theory really spoke to me, specifically around rejections of femininity (even if subconsciously or incidentally). Incredible book that tackles issues pertaining to (punk) feminism in unconventional, challenging, unapologetic and thought-provoking ways.

Lots to consider, reconsider and unpack.

About Me

I am originally from Montreal, Canada and now live in Sheffield, UK. I work in children's social care policy. I'm a book worm.

I have a PhD in History of Art from the University of York (UK). My thesis explored the dialogue between modernist photography and abstraction (1914-1930). I examined atmospheres in photographs through a formalist-phenomenological methodology. Feminism/women's art, art in remote places and the intersection of art and ecology are also important to me.

I have a BA at McGill University in Art History and World Cinemas and an MA in History of Art at UCL. My masters thesis focused on the 1967 Fogo Island Challenge for Change documentaries.
